The Global Sim Racing Endurance Championship is making its way to beautiful sunny Southern California for its inaugural run for the 6 Hours of Long Beach, Saturday April 21st. It’s looking to be a sunny warm day, with plenty of cars on track.

The track, one of the most technical on the schedule, is looking to be a difficult one for the drivers if the P1 Qualifying is anything to go on. The drivers spent just as much time in the walls and the pits, as the track itself. The race may be a war of attrition, with the last car standing, not necessarily the fastest.

GT Drivers qualified first, and unfortunately due to a scheduling mistake by the broadcast team, the event was not televised. The number 911 of the first place team, Kriegsmaschine Autowerkes with Welty at the helm, got the pole with a 1:17.400. Not far behind, Scuderia XCiTe Racing put down a 1:17.718 with Thorza at the wheel. Rounding out the top three for the GT class is Sparky laying down a 1:18.359 for Team Highlands/JDC Motorsports.

GT Qualifying Results:

1. Kriegsmachine #911 - 1:17.400 (Welty)

2. Scuderia XCiTe Racing - 1:17.718 (Thorza)

3. Team Highlands/JDC Motorsports #25 - 1:18.359 (Sparky)

4. EVR Motorsport #09 - 1:18.602 (Burnout)

5. Kriegsmaschine #99 - 1:18.704 (Watts)

6. Team Highlands Racing #120 - 1:18.704 (cptgreen)

7. InsayneHyena-Acura Motorsport - No Time

8. Blaze Motorsport - No Time

9. 420 Motorsports - No Time

The P1 times were a little more spread out than that of the GT field. THR Mysterious laid down a 1:04.019 for Team Highlands/JDC Motorsports LMP giving the team pole. It was a battle throughout the entire session between him and LMP Basher, the only two driver’s in the 1:04’s. Basher finished the run with at 1:04.116 for Toyota Racing # 8 adding a wildcard to the field that wasn’t present at Daytona. Copper Nuts and GetWhooped traded positions throughout the entire session, but in his final lap, Copper secured the 3rd place position for SECR Marek with a 1:04.96. The VOD of the P1 session is available at https://mixer.com/iLiam?vod=28241763  Special thanks to Dead Arm for filling out the commentary team and doing such a great job.

P1 Qualifying Results:

2. Toyota Racing # 8 - 1:04.116 (Basher)

3. SECR Marek #22 - 1:04.964 (Copper)

4. SamKel Racing #1 - 1:05.279 (GetWhooped)

5. RedBird Racing #31 - 1:06.919 (BCK)

6. First Capital #5 - 1:07.684 (Colton)

7. Kriegsmaschine #16 - No Time

With a track that seems to be more about the driver and less about the car, how will the sun and fun of the California street circuit play out. Will the top runners maintain their spots or will the walls and mixed traffic shake things up? Only time will tell, in this, round 2 of the Global Sim Racing Endurance Championship.
