Ferrari F355 Challenge (FM Level 1)

Thu 26 Jan 2017, 13:45

Official mid-week racing returns to GSR!

Ferrari F355 Challenge is the one-make series par excellence, the most wide ranging and admired in the world. The series was established in 1993 and the events are FIA approved, thus ensuring a very high standard of organisation and safety.
The championship was an immediate success: it’s formula which insists on participants being dealers or authorised race shops, means the cars’ performance is very closely matched, which thus puts the emphasis on the drivers.

Congratulations to Panda Man & gnrblaze for their wins in their first GSR outing. Pretty impressive showing, guys!

Both Panda and Blaze were very quick. I was able to keep up but not get ahead.

It was a tough room with 6 of us within 1.0s fastest lap time!

Unfortunately Panda lagged out in the 2nd race; he certainly was in position for 2 wins in a row.

I lucked out with 2nd place in both races and consequently leading by narrowest 1 point!

You did very well, Blonde, finishing in 3rd! As you said, that's as good as a win for you! :)

It is turning out to be very competitive series.

First Capital Autosport is pleased to announce we have signed EddieBananas to drive a 2nd entry for the remainder of this championship.

EddieBananas brings past GSR experience of 1 start in the 12 Hours of Daytona, in which he finished 3rd in class (7th overall) in the #77 Mercedes.

"It's always great to give newcomers the opportunity to shine and the platform to earn some solid results." said team owner Mr Blonde. "Hopefully after this season, some of the larger teams in GSR will take notice and sign EddieBananas to a more lucrative deal. The kid (who may or may not be older than I) has a great deal of talent...just watch."

The 31 year old Michigan native will drive the #85.

EB is welcomed to the series!

Races will be short (relatively speaking) and sweet so it won't take much away from Valentine's Day evening . . .

I'll have to miss this race. The misses would kill me if I canceled on her for this.

I had something here about... something, but anyways, I put a typo in that and meant to say if I'm not on by 9:05pm EST, go without me, I'll be there for the second race.
Tue 14 Feb 2017, 19:58
The races will be 10 laps each. Lobby will be open about 8:30pm Eastern for 3 lap practice runs.

Another nice turnout and good racing. 4 winners in 4 races...awesome to see such parity! Was surprised to see a field of 8 on Valentine's Day.

Congratulations to DA TOPPERHARLEE on his first GSR victory! If I'm not mistaken, that was the first win from an Australian driver since Dropbear won an IndyCar race at Laguna Seca in June 2014!

Idk if the admins have anything set in stone for the next Tuesday night series but I wouldn't mind keeping the factory Ferrari theme going. Maybe the 430 or 458/488 next. I would guess pretty much everyone likes diving these types of cars and we have been getting good turnout with the 355. Only complaint I've heard is the slight lack of power.

My plan for March was a brand that starts with 'M' and going back more in time but it is not written in stone.

Early this year there was an interest in modern Ferrari GT cars. They are, however, in A-class and I'm trying to stay in B or lower for Tuesday nights so some pondering needed. Will let you know.

How about a hot hatchback challenge? Or one with a class of cars like we did earlier when once a car won it was eliminated from use. All up to you GRD, just throwing out ideas.

Damn it, dakinca, you ruined the surprise :)! j/k

I was considering another elimination series for March.

Yes, a global hatchback competition is another good one.
