Looks like I was the lucky one to get kicked out before the race even started.

Despite everything menes reus it was still an enjoyable race.

Thanks for racing today, guys! We understand that there were a few wrinkles with the (re)starts and caution procedure. We plan on making some changes before the next race at the Indianapolis GP in 2 weeks time!

Full race results and standings will be posted tomorrow!

I have to say I was disappointed as I was never through the hairpin before before the race was started(much less in double file), as I came through the first right bend on front straight ran into five cars stacked up with nowhere to go. After hitting pits and following the pace car for 1/2hr, came off the hairpin to catch up with pack, slow down and get rammed in the rear. Then yelled at for slowing down. I thought this series was a little more together and would rather have raced blonde then following him around as it was not a problem in practice.

Even in real-life, Long Beach's layout is just not good for a rolling start. The hairpin pretty much makes sure that the only a few rows are able to get lined up.

Some examples

2002: www.youtube.com/watch
2004: www.youtube.com/watch
2006: www.youtube.com/watch (oh look, a crash at the start!)
2007: www.youtube.com/watch
2011: www.youtube.com/watch (only the first two rows get in formation)

Guys, don't worry. We're still working out the bugs with the new system. A lot of the time, the only way to see how things like these work is to implement them with a full-field, which doesn't happen too often in practice sessions. Things will get better, especially on the natural road courses with long front straights.

I hope this is sorted out and I'm sure Amplitude posted while still angry about the race (it happens to the best of us!) We've all got to remember that especially early on in the season, and particularly on street circuits there will be crashes! (Anyone remember an event at Camino where we didn't have at least one crash??) Especially in such high speed cars small errors have huge effect (missing a braking point by half a second at 200mph is a huge distance!) From the sounds of it with drivers not used to going wheel to wheel mixed with driving very fast cars on a tight circuit caused a lot of problems, which is understandable! We crash enough in B class cars, let alone these monsters!)
Example:
www.youtube.com/watch (Quite a few of these incidents were championship affecting, near the end of the season so much worse than having a bad race 1!)

I hope we can all go onwards from this and rule changes will be implimented to try and make things smoother, as BCK said, we can't try new things without a full field, so trying new things in race is the only way to do it, and it's all a learning experience for all of us things that don't work will be removed and things that do kept in! Apologies for the bad experiences that have come from this, but if we tried nothing new then the racing would quickly get pretty boring!

After having a night to digest what happened during the race yesterday I can say I do not regret any of my comments. Maybe I should not have said them, but I do not regret them. My reasoning for quitting the race was that earlier in the week I was running some laps with blonde and a few other people when the admins were first discussing the rule changes and I asked him a question. It was if we get severe damage what are we supposed to do? His answer was to quit out because the pace car is not going to wait on the crashed cars, if you cannot get to the pits in a reasonable amount of time then you need to quit out so that is what I did. Then come to find out after the race was over he waited for the wrecked cars to catch back up. I already voiced my other frustrations with blonde and well quite frankly nobody but blonde needs to know about those.

I do want to apologize to BCK and the rest of the field that was involved in the first accident. The whole start was messed up with the leader accelerating and then braking coming to the line. But it is what it is. I do not agree with having the red flag at the beginning of the race because I do not believe it was in the message sent out to everyone in the series. (I could be wrong) So if my comments make me a "bad guy" well then so be it. I am a competitive and passionate person. I am passionate about this and if something happens I am going to get mad. It is what it is so deal with it.

Hey Racing1egend83, sorry about that incident toward the end. I had a ton of rear damage from a turn 1 accident that lap. I saw you closing and tried to get my speed up, but as soon as I did that, the rear came out and I couldn't control it. I saw you in my mirrors and tried to slide the car into a line, but it ended up being the wrong one.

I want to go ahead and apologize to everyone for the way I acted towards Boyo at the end of the race, that was not the time and place to vent and I should of just kept my mouth shut and waited to discuss things afterwards. I also want to apologize to Keyless for running over him on one of the cautions, I really didn't expect him to stop where he did knowing he wasn't the leader, but I should of been paying attention more. That alone probably ruined any chance both of us had at getting back up front. Aside from the restart mishaps and rash of yellows at the beginning and end of the race, I did have a lot of fun and think that things will only get better from here on out.

Ok, so i first off want to thank many of the members, who messaged me to apologise, some for their yelling and some for hitting me in the race from behind. I first off wanted to say i apologise if i offended anyone for my racing and my yelling. I think i can explain both. First off the race was full of crashes and bad stops an really a cluster from the beginning. In the earlier part of the race when i was in a crowded area i got rubbed some times and lost control and was trying to rectify and it may have looked like i was blocking , im not sure. I was not trying to hit anyone , and a few of the times in that beginning i was rubbed and it made me lose it a little and im sure i looked like a total n00b for a little bit. But prior to that the race was already full of crashes annoyingly too many. Too many start and stops, which did not allow me to get a feel for the race or track with that many competitive racers. I personally feel that track is just not good for 16 people.
Mon 21 Apr 2014, 03:06
Also at the end i was getting hit ALOT and my car had damage alot in the race and which made it difficult to drive out the way. I know in the end , i was PLOWED into the fountain, ( which i have been apologised too). So when the guy who was yelling at me cause i was in the way, my car was FUBAR at that time. I still dont understand the idea of allowing passing? that to me is not racing and if i can hold off a guy, why wouldnt on , it should he his better skill to pass me, if he is better , it will be doable . I did not block anyone off in this race though ( on purpose)
Mon 21 Apr 2014, 03:09
Also i have the wheel, which makes me have to use kinect to chat, so i was not able to apologise earlier in the race when i was rubbing people, ( which i still think was very minor ) my opinion. I was not told by anyone this was a Professional race in fact Blonde told me so. I came here to have fun, because xbox live is bad alot in racing. Im not that bad as i seemed. I barely raced this track, cause it is a new track and i had a death in my family this past 2 weeks. So if it was a track ive ran a thousand times i would have been better.
Mon 21 Apr 2014, 03:12
At the end, i got tired of getting names called at me , when i was getting hit alot, some my fault, but many that were not. The guys in the lead didnt see this alot, as i did. So i would have apologised earlier, but again i had kinect as my mic. I do understand the love of sim racing, but if this is that serious that you have to scream obscenities at people, damn...i'll stay quiet. I am counselor by profession and i'll just leave it at that, but it seems unnescesary. Its not a PRO room, or for Money !!. So i apologise, but i felt majorly ganged up on and i wont back down , when that happens.
Mon 21 Apr 2014, 03:19
I joined INDY series, because i didnt want to race 6 hour races in endurance and i have no interest in drafting. There are no B,C,D class races that i can see which i do better at, so since there was no Professional room only series, i joined. My friend was watching my race, and was actually gonna get a xbox one cause of forza 5 ..Needless to say, he said "Jesus , those guys are way uptight" . Just to add some perspective. But in finally. I still dont agree of the allowing passing stuff, DOES NOT seem like real racing to me at all. If you got skill, get passed the other man in front of you. As long as he doesnt hit you or bash you, doesnt seem unreasonable. Pro's dont say " go ahead Joe" So thank you for the general kindness to the new guy and to the mean ones...i'm sorry, but its a game and i didnt bash anyone, more like a rubbing ( from my reccolection) andi apologise. I wanted to have fun, didnt know i was joining a (pro room...lol.) So Thanks Blond, HSR, razorsimon Class Acts !

Congratulations to Macace on his first ever GSR victory! Extra impressive given the fact he was a victim in the crash at the start and was still able to make his way through the field! Just shows that an early incident is not exactly the end of the world. lol
Mon 21 Apr 2014, 12:57
Pure luck my friend, pure luck. I just managed to follow nightmare into the pits early which saved my are when the pit window caution came up. Quitting isn't a strong suite of mine and with the points system the way it is and the amount of races for the season, this will stay a close battle to the end.
